I was just wondering if anyone had used a fat supplement for weight gain on horses, and which one would be preferred? Do they give a horse much more energy? (As this is not needed.) My horse used to get 1.5 scoops AM/1.5 PM and 2 flakes a day. I've had to bumped him up to 3/3 and 6 flakes of Alfalfa a day. I have even power packed him. I've switched to a higher quality feed as well. Still no luck. He isn't being worked any harder than he was before, in fact, maybe less. He's around eight I believe.

the dac bloom and oil are excellent for weight gain and doesn't add extra energy.

Could he be an ulcer horse? I have a 10 yr old gelding who is on a high fat feed (8%) but still tends to run 50-75lbs underweight. I put him on Ramard, Total Gut Health. It has all kinds of stuff in it. It is not a 'weight' product, but because it has everything they need for digestion, they utilize every ounce of nutrition they take in. Mine is a ulcer horse. This product has a money back guarantee and in my opinion is amazing. Within 5 days of puttin him on it he had a bloom to his haircoat. Noticable weight gain within about 2 weeks. Go to ramardinc.om - Everythin they make is off the charts, great.

I doubt it is ulcers. He's a 16.1, 16.2 hand TB. So they are harder keepers. I've dealt with ulcers in horses so I don't suspect he has them. That's a brilliant idea though, thank you!
